Happy New Year!

Another year gone, another decade over. As we look forward to the start of the Roaring Twenties (I do just get to reuse the previous centuries nicknames, right?) I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on a few of the things that have happened in 2019 for DarkMyst.

For starters (as you may have spotted given you are right here, right now...), we got a snazzy new website (thanks Dread!) with a great look, and ways of finding all of our on-going games and channels.

Which is also a round about way of pointing out that here we are, 31 one years after it was invented (thanks Jarkko Oikarinen!), still all using IRC. Which is either a miracle or whatevever-the-demonic-version-is-called given how many other messaging platforms, social networks, and modern do-fangle-whatsits have come along in the meantime...

Obviously, not everything could be positive throughout the year, and I know you've all coped marvellously well with the number of network outages, service hiccups, and general bad-techery that's littered the newsfeed already this year. Thankfully, the team have learnt from any mistakes made during the course of these issues and we're in a stronger position (for the next time everything decides to go to hell in a handbasket...  Which I know that it obviously will do, in novel and exciting ways.  Probably in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...).

We also said goodbye this year to a beloved server Malkav - always in our hearts, and it will live on in our memories forever. Like some kind of Dementation-based curse I'm sure.

Finally, we also saw the newest addition to the (what I have just decided this minute to call) Senior Leadership Wizards with the appointment of a new Network Coordinator in June. Little ol' me.

So, I just want to personally thank each and everyone one of you for flying DarkMyst in 2019, and I hope to see all of you around in 2020 and beyond.

Necromancer-in-Chief Network Coordinator,
Vecna.
